Re: Position Readout Question and Introduction

1st the question:

Is anyone using the output from a DRO as the position indicator in a
servo system. I've been contemplating this for quite some time, and
am fascinated (specially because I have the DRO installed on the Mill).

Introduction:

I've been lurking here for a week or two, and have been planning to CNC
my mill for years, just haven't gotten around to pursuing it. I'm an electronic
engineer (usually hardware and system design) for work, and a live steamer,
hacker, general tinkerer (and currently building the house were trying to live
in .... boy does that take the time), and working with a group that are restoring
a logging locomotive in my "spare time".

I have the typical well worn Bridgeport, a imported metal lathe, most of the
other dross that accompanies woodworking.

Once I finish the house, I hope to be able to contribute to this list.
