Andre,
Good news and bad news
The good news is you are looking in the wrong places.
The bad news is - no raise for you.
You do not need a high dollar regulated supply, only the proper
transformer, bridge rectifier, and a capacitor(s) to build yourself a
good unregulated supply. see the gecko website for a paper on ps's
http://www.geckodrive.com/support/pdf/power_supplies.pdf
That will get you started, You should be able to put one together
for under $30.00 if you can find the transformer cheap. Look
on ebay, electronic surplus websites, in dumpsters, etc and you will
come up with one.
