IBM Notebook and CNC

Folks:
I seem to remember some posts indicating that there were some problems using
the IBM Thinkpad notebook computers for CNC. Something to do with the
configuration of the parallel port because of IBM's internal designs. I
didn't pay too much attention to it then, but now am considering a used
Thinkpad to drive a 3 axis step-direction driver with TurboCNC. I'd
appreciate it if some of you folks who are familiar with using the Thinkpad
with CNC would comment on any problems or successes.
Thanks,
