Ian--The jig pins and fixed edge remind me of years ago machining
(face milling and dovetailing) castings on a magnetic chuck. A fixed
edge against which the machining forces can be directed was pretty
important. Even on a surface grinder it's a good idea to use a piece
of sheet metal or something as a "kicker".
