Another "newbe"

I am sooo happy to find this group. I am a retired clinical biochemist
turned gemologist who is now looking to get educated in cnc. I am interested
in everything related to cnc, i.e., mechanics, electronics, programming,
etc.\
My first project will be to convert a desktop mill to 4 axis cnc for use in
making jewelry models in wax and soft metal or hard plastics. I would like
to do secondly a 4 or 5 axis servo based system that uses ball slides. I
appreciate any help or information that whoever has the time and patience to
send me.
