Hi Gary -
Is this a home-built EDM machine, or commercial one? Could you
tell us a little more about it? Like cutting rates, feed method,
flushing, etc?
TIA,
Carlos Guillermo

I use a product called Oilguard (http://www.oilguard.com) for the
filter. This is a canister type unit with two threaded ports (in
and
out). The actual filter uses tightly wound cotton fibers. They
claim < 1 micron filtration. The flow rate is about 20 gallons
per
hour which is fine because my tank is only about 1.5 gallons. For
pumping I use a high pressure fuel pump. It runs on 12 volts and
provides the necessary pressure (~50psi) to run the oil through
the
filter at the required flow rate.
Overall I like how this works. It was not too expensive (< $200)
and
does a very good job. I had been running tests with a 5 gallon
pail
of the EDM fluid and no filtration. It had turned very dark brown
(could not see to the bottom). Once I got the filtration system
together it turned the 5 gallons crystal clear in about 20
minutes.
Not sure how long the filter elements will last but they are only
about $5 to replace.
