By no means am I an expert on BobCad, but I ran into the same problem
(jumping to the final cut depth). The solution to my problem was to simply
turn 3D on by clicking on the 3D button within the CAM window. Also make
sure that your max cut depth is less than your stock height - also
controlled in the CAM window. Then when you generate your g-code, you
should see the file size increase greatly.

I'm running V17.0 so I do a verify by simulating the raw stock and watch
BobCad interpret the g-code onto the stock. Really neat to watch the
virtual cuts and "see" your final product.

I learned this while making an aluminum mold for a cable assembly - probably
could have hand cranked 10 of these puppies out in the time it took to do it
the "right" way. But know I know....

My next goal is to be able to get BobCad to do a complex 3D surface. I
expected this to be straightforward when I bought the software, but now I
think otherwise. I want to import a 3D model and generate g-code, not
redraw my 3D model in BobCad.

I'm interested in hearing any success stories on BobCad and 3D models - on
list or off list.
