EMC and DROs

I am building DROs for my Grizzly mini-mill. Is it possible to use
EMC as the software for this? At this time, the mill will only have
DROs. CNC might be added at a later date. I am using encoders and
linear strips from US Digital and will mill some enclosures to
protect the strips. The encoders use standard quadrature encoding.
The strips are 360 pulses per inch. In 4X mode that will give me a
resolution of .0006944.
