I've worked on a few of those line tracers in the past...
control uses to sense how fast the motor is moving. Yours outputs 14
volts per 1000 RPM. Or 1.4 volts at 100 RPM, for example.
to add your own quadrature encoder. Some servo drives can use tac
for damping, but its usually optional.
I think you are on the right track with the Geckos!
