Hello "Wenger2k"
My requirements for a small CNC Mill & Lathe were similar to yours. You
can find my original detailed post in the discussion forum archives.
There are many excellent vendors who are active on this forum.
I eventually decided on Bill at Grifftek for the Sherline/AhHa CNC Mill &
Lathe. I have just completed my software evaluation and I selected Dolphin
CAD/CAM for the software.
I am very pleased with my decision as well as the support that I have
received from both entities. You can do a search on both and find recent
posts with contact information.
I hope this referral is of use. I am sure that several others will chime in
with their own experiences. My advice: This is a big investment of $ and
time. Get to know your vendors and make sure that you are comfortable with
them as it is great to have people to call upon or send email to when you
are starting out.
This list is an excellent resource as well. Hopefully, soon, I'll actually
have some real machining experience to offer. So far, I have designed and
machined some expensive Dominos. I expect the price to go down however as I
learn more.... :-)
Good luck!
Eric Mack
