Counterbalanced Z, was Re: Z-axis stepper size?

I didn't realize the question was specifically about Sherline (shows how
much I'm paying attention lately!), but yes, the photos of my mill are
right here in the cad_cam_edm_dro files area under "Randy's Sherline Mill".

I truthfully haven't had time to do more than machine verious test pieces
so far, but I'm really happy with the smoothness of the z-axis. I'm hoping
to have some "quality time" with the mill (and converting the Sherline
lathe to CNC--my Christmas present from my wife!) over the holidays.
