I would chime in and agree with Bob here......

But it does depend on what you are actually trying to accomplish. At lower
speeds, those 100oz motors may pull a trim router along. Depends a bit on the
voltage you are running. If your under 40, Forget it. It may work as a diamond
drag engraver!

Typically, the smaller routers that have to lift a full size router will run at
least a 220 oz. Most small desktop engravers these days seldom run anything
less than a 160oz. Are yours NEMA 23's ?

I would recommend you leave enough room in your design to replace your 100's if
they do not deliver with the largest motors you can run. Then, fire them with a
voltage source much higher than 40 volts so they can deliver all they have to
offer. I've seen some 220-240oz rascals out there !

I've got a machine with a 220 in Z..... She'll push/pull about 125lbs before
stall at 30ipm. At 100ipm, that would likely drop considerably. But with a
spindle throwing chips, even 30 pounds of push can do a lot. In the end, your
final gearing may have a lot to do with your results.

There is quite a trade off however in size.... I don't feel bigger is better.
Sometimes bigger is just noisier ! My favorite X-Y target these days is 300oz
running with a 70 or so volt power supply.
