Floppy Drives

Hi,

Once I proposed to use floppy disks, and use the electronics and step
motors as test devices, or if you like - build something. I received an
email that some have this running now, but they had a few problems - you
needed pull-up resistors on some signals.

I just want to add a remark that I come to think of. All drives has a
resistor package on the drives, so that you have this pull up resistors
on the floppy cable, or a hard disk cable. But you only need one
resistor on the line, so if you install 2 floppy drives, - you should
remove the resistor chip on the first drive. In order to have this
working again as a single floppy, you have to insert that resistor pack
again. This may be a nice place to insert pull-up resistors, if it turns
out that they should have another value - when you connect it to the par
port. ( instead of solder them in place on the wire or what ever )
