hello;
in looking further at my notes concerning firewire/ieee-1394
firewire has the ability to be use both isochronous and
ansynchronous.
ieee-1394 has a top limit of 1.2 gigabits/sec. it is also
isochronous and asynchronous.
ieee-1384b has the following improvements over ieee-1394/ieee-1394a:
1394b is an enhancement to the basic 1394 specification that
enables speed increases to 3.2 Gigabits/sec, supports distances
of 100 meters on UTP-5, plastic optical fibre and glass optical
fibre, and significantly reduces latency times by using
arbitration pipelining.
being able to multi-mode glass optical fibre is a good advantage.
being able to have cabling runs of 100 meters is yet another good
advantage.
i am unable to find my notes on usb 1.0 or usb 2.0 so i can not
give you any information concerning changes between usb 1.0 and
usb 2.0.
personally i would go with firewire/ieee-1394b and multi-mode
glass optical fibre.
