Have you looked at Prodesktop? It is truly free in that it does not
require bimonthly re-registration like the so called "free" Surfcam.
It is also a parametric based modeler and can communicate with Pro-E,
also somehow missing from your list of familiar programs. Pro-D
includes bidirectional iges translators which should more than
satisfy your NURBS craving. It will also allow you to save stl files
at just about any required surface tolerance, which is a perfect
match for the needs of StlWork. Just think a Nurbs based parametric
solid/surface modeler and a CAM system to match for just the price of
StlWork!
Even Rhino can save quite satisfactory stl files for use with StlWork.
If you want to have an integrated modeling and Cam environment, you
will have to be prepared to spend over $3000 for the likes of Xcam,
1CNC, Visualmill, etc. They are all on the low end of capabilities
compared to the likes of a Catia or UG system.
