that is not entirely true, there are several versions of linux and unix that
are truely real time, and DOS does have some problems (based on reading, not
experience). you may want to look into EMC for linux (enhanced machine
contoller), many people have made it work. it's even got the BDI (brain
dead install) -- it's a CD that installs linux AND emc and does most of the
work for you.
