I did this with some hand made pistol grips and it came out ok, though you might
want to try it on some scrap, just to see how it looks. I took some black
powder residue, and rubbed it down into the pores of the oak. Then I took some
walnut meat, and rubbed it all over the wood. It gives a light tannish color to
the wood. It looks good and evenn sorta unique, but like I said, try it on some
scrap first.
