Yes because on a lathe everything is times by two so a 0.0005"
resolution will get you 0.001" on diameter.
This is why some of the cheaper systems that say they read to 0.002"
or 0.001" are not suitable for a lathe because in practice they are
0.004 or 0.002" on diameter.
