Hello group! My name is Craig, and I find the group interesting and informative.I am almost finished with the conversion of a taiwan mill-drill to cnc,all three axes.I feel I have come up with one of the best ways to mount servo/stepper motors to this type of machine. It is cheap, easy to fabricate, and allows for belt adjustment,as well as repositioning of the assembly. The mounts are as strong and as rigid as any I have seen.If anyone is doing this also,I would be glad to share.I also have two largish brushless dc servo motors from old ibm mainframe printer units.I think they are 50 volt.I have the repair manual for the printers, including wiring diagrams, parts lists, etc.I would like to use these if possible/economical.There were a lot of parts in the one mainframe unit, and three printers.
Lots of electronics, three huge 220/550 volt transformers, all were working when retired.I hate to throw some of this stuff away, any interest out there for the cost of shipping? The three hard drives have clear covers and 14 inch platters!!!!!

If you look at their website, they have pc based CNC software
that talks to their motors via rs232 or rs485 so only a cable is
needed to go with the motors (possibly an RS485 card). But
the software looks to be lacking in supported g-codes right now,
although they say they are adding new ones every month.

As far as heating goes, I am running Gecko G340 drives and
some Electro-Craft E-19 brush servo motors and neither the
drives or motors go more than a few degrees above ambiant
even after running them all day. I'm probably not running either
the drive or motor anywhere near capacity which may account
for that, but maybe they just do the same to keep the heat down.

By the way, if anyone has any specs on Electro-Craft E-19
servo motors could you send them along. Website has no info.
I dont really need them, as my machine runs great, just curious
as to what I'm using.
