Stanless, of course! The zinc plating is much softer than the steel beneath
it, and will abrade away in the first two hours of operation. This does
three nasty things for you: 1)it defeats the original purpose of the
zinc-plate; 2)it makes the diameter of the screw drop several thousandths;
and, 3)it will globber-up your nut, of whatever kind it happens to be. Not
to forget it will LOOK like [deleted] virtually immediately, whereas a 303 or
better (that's SS!) will look GOOD, even beyond its useful life!

I have several home-brew machines with ACME screws and Turcite preloaded nuts
from BSA in San Jose, CA, all of 303 SS. Looks as good as day first
assembled, and still good! GO for it! If it's worth all the hassle to BUILD
a machine that needs montion-control screws, it is worth the little
difference to buy SS!

Hope I have inspired you to improve your concept here!
