I purchased a servo motor setup for J-head Bridgeports on Ebay recently.
Motors, mounts and belt drives for x-y axis. The price was to good to
pass even though I already have retrofitted the machine with nema 42
steppers with encoders.
The motors are EG & G Torque Systems. The model numbers are
MT-5330-111EV code 1003. I have been doing some internet searches to
try and get some specs on these motors. My searches for EG & G have
given me a company that is a defense and customs contractor. The company
logo is the same that is on the motors. No mention of any products. Did
this company sell out that part of their business? The motors have
Watertown MA. on the label under the logo.
Futher searches led me to a "Torque Systems" site. A search of their
product line found a "5330" which matches the physical diameter of the
motor at 5". This listing yielded these specs: 170VDC max-3000RPM no
load- 25lb. in. torque rating- 150 lb. in. peak torque. No current
ratings were listed.
The EG & G motors have tachs with encoders. The encoders were removed
and mounted on the leadscrews.
Anyone familiar with these motors? Can I drive them with Gecko drives
(they are permanent magnet brush motors).
