EMC Linux newby needs help

I need HELP! I received the BDI EMC from Mr. Henry (Thanks!) and after
installing it and playing with it I am ready to connect it to my
Gecko 320's. The problem is the Emcsim does not output from the
port. Minimill, bridgeport, and generic will not start from the
desktop or from the command line. Typing EMC.RUN brings up;
emc.run:which::no such file or directory
platform linux2_2_18
rtplatform rtlinux3_0
(misc stuff)
starting emc some where in here the graghic shows up
./install_rtlinu_base:modeprobe:command not found (a few
times)
plat/rtlinux_3_0/lib/steppermod.o:unresolved symbol (a few times)
can't install it
Then back to the $ prompt. I have looked at a lot of docs for
this tried a few different things to no avail. Any help is much
apprieciated. Beware as I am a complete newbe to Linux/Unix. This
whole thing reminds me of Collosal Cave, "YOU ARE IN A ROOM" Now
I gotta find my way around. TIA Ed.
