Well, if these screws are "single-start", with only 1/4" pitch, then, guess
you have TIME on your hands! I built an X-Y table for a WW firm in England
with a 3 metre (not "meter" in England, doncha know!) travel, and used 1.5"
dia. 1/2" pitch ball-screws. HUGE MO-172 "X stepper" (1.1 hp according to
S.E.). I used twin-angular-contact BB's at both ends. Preloaded (dual)
ball-nuts. Mucho dinero! But I selected those "fat" screws per the
engineering-data in the BSA catalog. It worked!

I promise ONE thing: Never again anything larger than a "console TV"! I'm
just ONE dum' ol' boy in a home-shop! (Air-Freight on this machine (in 14'
long boxes!) was $6000!!!!!!!) JRR
