servo control card choices????

I am getting a 2(minimum) axis servo control card that will be used for
closed loop electronic gearing. I have found at least ten on the net that
would work. I was wondering if anyone has any personal experience good/bad on
a similar controller. I am just trying to pick a brand they all seem to be
$1100-1500 so any personal experience would be appreciated.
