I am a coder and a getting started CNC machiner. I have written a few
programs that do PCB drilling for my machine. Soon i'll have a 3 in 1 to do
everything else.

I'm all for an open standard for CAM, but I find there are plenty of
extremely good modelers that solve the CAD problem that I wouldn't bother
with it. If anyone needs assistance in the software engineering side I
might be able to help.
