hello;
unless it is absolutely necessary i would turn off the network card
in the windows 98 box. windows boxes have a habit of putting out a
lot of ethernet 'chatter'. that ethernet 'chatter' directly relates
to interrupts. if you would want to check this out before turning
off your network card download ethereal for windows from the ethereal
homepage, at:

Sniffing the glue that holds the Internet together
http://www.ethereal.com/
more memory may help but i tend to doubt it.
