The 2002 NAMES - North American Model Engineering Society exhibition will be April 27-28, 2002.
Sat. 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM | Sun. 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

The new location this year is:

Southgate Civic Center
14700 Reaume Parkway
Northwest side of Toledo St, north of Eureka Rd.
Southgate, MI

Don't miss it! There will be hundreds of models built by craftsmen and artists, some even use CNC!
Most of them are made of metal too. Engines, steam, diesel, turbine, IC, Sterling and all hand held.
Farm implements, and there are usually at least one or two 6 inch Hardinge or Bridgeport models,
that actually WORK! One year there were even a pair of army tanks, about go-cart scale (outside).

There will also be a special corner with list members hanging out and talking "shop", CNC shop that is.

I hear rumors of new products that might be on display, new BDI's available. We will have RasterFratz
and the new Vector, Nurbs modeler on display.

I think Paul and Ray want me to bring one of my "dumpster" PC's along so they can show me how
easy it is to make the "true" Black Box BDI. The one with no keyboard, no mouse, and no monitor,
that plugs into the NIC on the Wintel Box? I think someone said it was so easy we could
demonstrate it about every 1/2 hour or so ;-)

IMService will be having a "VectorCam for Hobby Use" training session on the following Monday.
It will run from about 2:00 till 10:00 that evening. There is a nominal fee which includes pizza supper.

For additional info about NAMES, there is an ad in the current Home Shop Machinist magazines
and Scott Logan has a web site with current info, maps, etc at: http://www.loganact.com/names/
