Gecko 201 drive question.....

Here is a question for those with more experience than I have with the Gecko drives..... I would like to use the Disable (terminal 7) to release power to the "Z" stepper axis, so I can within a running program, using a "G" code command to pause the cutting, so I could change bits, and re-calibrate the "Z" axis, without doing any harm to the Gecko drive. I am not sure that moving the stepper, while the drive is in Disable mode will generate electrical energy, that may harm the drive. This would seem like a good use for this function, has anyone done this?
Thanks
Russ
