Re: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Gecko 201 drive question.....

Hi Russ,

I can do this with MaxNC, TurboCNC (CNCpro I think too) or the software
I'm writing. As long as you can stop the execution of a program, do an
MDI, and then continue the program, you should be able to do this. In
most cases you'll want to return to the previous location before
continuing. Machine is CNC Sherline.

I'd also suggest the tool change "Tnn" commands (also involves the
G54...59 commands and M6), depending on your controller, you should be
able to define tool lengths (which I think you're after), and the tool
change gives you the opportunity to change the tool. Use tool holders
that can accurately reset the position of a tool (my little Sherline has
endmill holders). I HAVEN'T ran Tnn's (perhaps you have), but I'd check
them out! I believe some controllers have a "tool change position"
which gets things out of the way for you (again I haven't programmed,
er, USED one yet).

Which controller are you running? I think we've run a little far afield
of a G301 question. ;>)
