EMC ??

I would like to know some things. Several weeks ago I set up EMC from
BDI on an old computer and spent the next two days fighting with it. I
sent in a message to this group and said that I was disgusted with it
and wanted to go back to windows based control software. Several of
you responded and told me to stick with it, I would get it so I did, I
went and bought a 500 page book on using red hat linux and have
reading it so I understand it some. Now I have EMC on a 266 that I
will be using on the mill and need to configure it to work. HOW do I
do this? Where can I go to get step by step directions, I found
Midnight Commander but I can not find or know how to get to the
emc.ini file. I have spent many hours reading all of the post on this
web site about EMC and feel if I can make the first step or two I can
get it working.

What I guess we need to do is set up a web site that will take a
person through a complete set up and how to get to the files etc.

run freqmod.o on a machine that won't handle it. Try
it with steppermod.o for
motion control and make sure the PERIOD parameter is
commented out in the emc.ini file.

How where??
