Linear encoder mount info

There must be more info hiding somewhere on adapting US Digital mylar
linear encoder strips to a cnc environment. Numerous searches always
get me to Tim's excellent photos: http://206.19.206.56/
dan_mauch_encoder_mount.htm, but there the trail grows cold. Nothing
on the camtronics site either, that I can find. Was there an article
(perhaps in N&V?) that included text and drawings? What was Tim working
from when he built his?
Pointers to more info on the web or elsewhere would be much
appreciated.
