Ahem. Actually it's easy to learn the basics, extremely flexible, and
extremely powerful. One thing I'd love to see more of on-list is
discussions of programming solutions to motion control problems.

If our friend wants to talk over the techie side of all that, this is a
perfect place to do so and I'm more than ready.
