I am running Slackware linux and would like to install the RTL Patch. I also will be installing EMC, but can't get past the RTL.
I get the patch to work fine. I changed the version number in the kernel_patch file which is created from the tar before I ran the patch. The patch appears to work fine.
The problem is with the compile to make a new kernel. The modules are installed to a directory with the old kernel name, not the new kernel name .RTL1.3
The new dir is created and all looks fine except the 2 rtl modules are in the wrong place.
When it boots it tries to load the 2 modules and fails because they were compiled for the new kernel and the machine is booting to the old kernel.
I have tried repeatedly and have not been able to pass the point.
Any ideas?
I know this stuff is hard to do over e-mail, but any ideas are welcome.
