On the operating query, not sure I understand the question correctly.
The encoders will be mounted in two places (Y-axis later on), one on the
backside of the apron and one on the cross slide so they move with the X
and Y movements of the cutting tool. The encoders read off the encoder
strips which are mounted on the bed and on the "stationary" part of the
cross slide (I'm not a native English speaker so the terminology suffers
sometimes). The encoders are hooked up to a homebuilt ISA board sitting
in an old PC with software that displays the X-Y-Z movement.
