I would offer that max rpm does not mean high speeds
and accelerations are not possible. It's like saying a car
can only go so fast because of max engine rpm. Well, there
is the little matter of what the transmission does.
Getting to high speed fast really depends (among other things) on the motors
ratio of torque to polar moment of inertia.
And DC brush motors can be very very good at this figure.
The ones I use are not particularly low inertia but give
7100 rad/sec^2 lightly loaded. That's pretty quick.
