I built a machine with a Porter Cable lam.trim years ago, and, aside from
replacing brushes due to normal wear, and an armature about every five years,
it seemed like a fine machine (knock on wood!). DeWalt I never had. No
opinion.

Makita is SUPER-fine! Amazing workmanship and "pretty", to boot! MY choice
in the future for all such!
