Spindle motors from Vacuum cleaner motor

Hi, wow this group is getting Big! I used a vacuum cleaner motor years ago to cut stone with diamond, the motors didnt last long because of water and grit was not well contained. Motors were always found at the dump and i kept a stock of them on the shelf.
Has anyone taken a vacuum motor and made a real housing and had sucess using one for a spindle motor. I know many have used Dremmel motors for small stuff, there isnt much there if you take the plastic cover off! cul brian f.
