John: Sorry, but I must ADD to your frustration: That "shape" is TO-92 (T
ransistor Outline-). But a To-92(A) has the collector on the right, flat
side facing you, but leads pointing downward, and the Emitter in the CENTER!
The Base is on the left.

However, the TO-92(B) has the Emitter opposit the Collector, and the Base in
the middle! Yep!

I don't know why I can't FIND it, now, but I thought SOME TO-92 case
transistors had the Collector in the MIDDLE, as do T0-220 "power
transistors", etc. Perhaps this, however, is only my Yank imagination.
