Yo Richard;

It's telling you that you have to install Linux first, so that there will be a
root file system, "/", to install the bdi in. _Or_, it could also be telling
you that if you've spread your file system around a bunch of machines, and that
it needs you to tell it where to find the main system box's, "/", directory -
partition, so that it can find all it's paths properly.
