I have a GE P-50 welding robot. I don't recall the
load capacity, but it is a big robot. The thing about
such a beast that you must keep in mind is that it can
easily kill you. They move fast and have a long
reach.
The one I own was used in a Penn State lab, and
rotation was disabled for just this reason. They got
a motion board that didn't drive the rotation axis.

I thought about putting a router on the end. I think
it would work relatively well for at least light
routing.

I decided that getting it to work was too much
trouble.
I had reservations about selling my robot whole
because it had been dropped and the electronics were
in a flood in my basement. So I am parting it out.
It has wonderful DC motors, which I was going to use
on my BP, but now I may use on my gantry router, or
more likely sell. The large metal pieces are going to
be made into mobile robots, one to mow my yard, and
others to be battlebots.
