I'm almost sure you can use either G41 or G42 ( but not both) offsets,
just cut in the opposite direction of the 'island' cut, and you should
'jump' to the other side of the line, making a 'pocket' cut (haven;t
tried this, but I'm sure it works). Make sure you make the lead-in &
lead-out with a G01 move at some Z+, if you want to 'ramp' into the
cut, since you'll probably not have lots of room in the font pockets
you want to cut out. Also, be wary, in making your fonts, to remember
that your end-mill or rouiter bit will not make a 'square' inside
corner. You'll have to chisel that out if you want to do inlays.
