This is from a message I posted to earlier

The first thing to go is screen updates, (mouse pointer movements will
be too slow). But a quick fix is to run at least 128 meg on board,
takes a big load off the CPU and graphics. Make sure you change your
ini file to refect this. Linux will know the change but EMC finds this
info though the ini file. During a BDI install also make sure you pick
8 bit color and no more than 800x600,... less load on the system.

Sometimes my mill will come to a brief halt, but only if I'm fiddling
with the back ploter screen.

I would run steppermod for now. Later with a cpu and mem upgrade would
