naw, seems that if you have a piece of RR track and there seems to be
a piece missing from the rails running along side your property, they
want to know just where you got yours.
That, and the are some real adventurouse souls that see that neat
peice of metal and figure if they get a shopping cart, then can just
pull the nails and take it to the scrap yard and get enough for a
pack of smokes.
Only problem is that the trains don't run real well without those
bitty metal rails.
And if you do try to take it to the scrap yard, you will need proof
of ownership. At least around here in Phila. I talked to the guys
pulling old rails and they said they tried to make a few $$ on the
side, drove around with rails in their truck for a week till they
found a guy who would take them.
The best thing is that amtrack sells the stuff pretty cheap. They
always have cut off lenghts that just pile up, and like everybody
else, they have to pay to get rid of their scrap.
