shielding cable

Hi,

Previous posts advocate shielding of the motor and signal cables for
the driver.

For the screw-mount DIN connector, how does one connect the shield
cable to the male DIN connector (the one permanently on the casing)?
It doesn't have a provision for the connection of the shielding wire?
I don't think one should connect the shield wire to the electronics
end - eg, terminal 1 (motor earth) of the G201?

Also, if one use multicore signal cable, the S&D terminals would be
at some distance from one another. So a significant portion of the
signal cable need to be exposed. Would this negate the advantages of
shielding or would this be splitting hair?
