Hi Al,
I realised I had already posted a pic of the knee support column mod for
someone else - a while back. It is in the Files section in the - "BP
Clone CNC Retro" folder. Check out the pic "Mill Mod2.jpg" Apologies
for such a poor photo but this was one of the few times my digi couldn't
decide where to focus.
What you're seeing is the side of the knee support column milled away to
provide clearence for the ball return tubes of the ball nut. I don't
have a pic of the ball nut but it is a standard kind with an integral
flange which picks up the 3 mounting holes. I sketched an arc on the
top surface and just repeatedly plunged a long 1/2" end mill down about
2.5" to make provide the clearence area. In real life, it doesn't look
anywhere near as ugly as this pic implies, honest...
