Hi,
Installing a dual boot system isn't very difficult if you're using the BDI
version of EMC. Install Windows first as it seems to be designed not to
recognise other OSs. Now, when you install linux, it should recognise
windows and set itself up for dual boot. Remember to tell the linux
installer to use the other hard drive!!! The drive that windows calls C: -
the first drive, is called /hda in linux and the second drive D: is called
/hdb so when you are setting up the linux partitions, make sure you are
setting up /hda1 as root and /hda3 as swap for example and not overwriting
the wondows setup - assuming it has installed itself to the C: drive. Lilo
shaould pick up the two OSs and should automatically provide access to the
windows one through a 'dos' label.
All the recent versions of linux I have tried will automatically detect a
windows installation and set up for it (RedHat, Mandrake, Debian Woody,
Slackware, Knoppix etc.). Setting up a dual boot with Windows2000 or XP is a
bit more complicated as you have to go back in with a boot floppy and do a
bit of manual configuration (and make sure that lilo is installed on the
first sector not the MBR) but I have one machine set up like this with no
real problem.
If you still have trouble mail me your symptoms direct and I'll try to sort
you out..
Best wishes,
Ian
