I once saw some similar gearhead motors (9000 series - smaller)
listed as surplus, but when I asked about the gearhead the rep. told
me that there was significant backlash in the (spur)geartrain.

Too bad, they would have been perfect to mount a pinion directly on
the output shaft and rack-drive a plasma gantry or something.
