I have always seen chipload expressed as the thickness cut per tooth on
the cutter so it is a linear dimension. For instance on aluminum with a
decent sized mill bit I will run about .005" - .010" chipload per tooth.
So if I am cutting with a 6 flute cutter I can go at 3 times the feed or
a 2 flute cutter and still maintain the same chipload per tooth.
