Yeah, chipload is generally considered to be the amount of stock
removed per each flute of the mill, or infeed per rev. on a lathe.
Generally, a few 'tenths' per flute on the endmill, and a few 'thou'
per rev. on the lathe. If you measure the thickness of an actual chip,
it's usually thicker than the chipload, because the material usually
'bunches-up' on the cutting edge, before sloughing-off. Each
material/speed/tool combination yields a different thickness vs.
chipload.
