The EMC can home from a limit rather than the home switch pin. I believe
that it does this if a limit switch closes/opens during the homing
sequence. You would need to offset each axis a bit during the home
sequence so that an axis is not sitting on the switch when you home the
next. Once homed, the software limits should protect from overtravel.
